Survey Bites

Morsels of useful information about the 2024 Focused Engagement Survey

Focusd Engagement Survey by Leaing Edge

This page archives “Survey Bites” emails sent during the 2024 Spring and Fall cycles of the Focused Engagement Survey.

Three more days to participate in the survey!

Have you checked your participation rate? Log in to cultureamp.com to check. If you need to set or reset your password, you can use this link.

Here are two ways you can think about increasing your participation rates before the survey closes this Friday, April 19 at 5pm PT (8pm ET):

  1. Have your CEO email your team to let them know how your organization is doing in terms of participation.

While you can find email templates you can edit and share with your staff here, below a fantastic example of how one organization is rallying their team to get great participation:

[Organization] Team –

We are off to a good start – we have already reached 45% participation rate! Today our goal is to get to 55%.

The great musician Wynton Marsalis said, “We always hear about the rights of democracy, but the major responsibility of it is participation.”

Great organizations, like great orchestras, need more than individual talent – they need individuals committed to doing their best and listening to others so that we can perform better together. In order for us to perform at our best, we need your commitment not only to doing your individual role well, but also participating as an active member by sharing your voice to help us improve.

If you are having trouble locating the email with the link to the Focused Engagement Survey, please search in your "All Mail" folder for "Leading Edge via Culture Amp" or for “notifcations@cultureamp.com”. You can also click this link and enter the email address that was submitted on your behalf by [Survey Liaison name] as your code. Please check with [Survey Liaison name] to confirm the spelling of the email address.

If you have already filled out your survey, “Thank You!”. If you have not yet filled out your survey, now is the time to make your voice heard so that together we can build the kind of organization that we can all be proud of. It only takes about 5 minutes and is 100% confidential.

Thanks for all that you do and have a great day,

[CEO name]

  1. Encourage each department to set aside time to complete the survey. The survey should only take about 5 minutes to complete, and can be completed from a computer, tablet, or phone.

If you like to plan ahead, prepare to thank your team for sharing their feedback. An email template can be found here.

As always, let us know if you have questions.

April 8: Prepare for After Survey Actions!

Happy Survey Launch Week! With the survey launching tomorrow, we’re already thinking ahead to post-survey support and want to help you do the same. In May and June, we will be offering workshops to support you in taking action around your survey data, with data insights from the full cohort of participating organizations, tips and best practices from consultants, and space to connect with fellow practitioners as you strategize around next steps.

Please save the dates and register for our workshop offerings:

Activation Workshop Series

Take action following the Focused Engagement Survey by joining Leading Edge for a two-part Activation Workshop series. The first workshop will focus on understanding your results, maximizing the Culture Amp platform to see your data in various ways, and beginning to strategize about sharing results with your staff. The second workshop will focus on key themes and insights from the full cohort of participating organizations, as well as action planning and accountability.

  • Part 1: Thursday, May 16 at 12:00 pm ET (9:00 am PT) – Register here
  • Part 2: Thursday, May 23 at 2:30 pm ET (11:30 am PT) – Register here

Join Leading Edge for a spotlight on each of the add-on sections from the Focused Engagement Survey. During these sessions, we will share aggregate themes from the full cohort of organizations who selected this add-on section, hear practices around action you can take to drive change in this topic area, and connect with peer professionals to strategize your next steps. Any organization that participated in the Focused Engagement Survey may participate in the workshop regardless of whether you added on this topic area question set.

April 2: Four reminders for a successful survey
  1. While the survey is open you can view your organization’s participation rate in real-time on the Culture Amp platform. On Tuesday when the survey opens, you’ll be notified once the participation rate report is ready to view. Log into Culture Amp with your email and password and click on the Focused Engagement Survey at the top. To set or reset your password, use this link.
A participation rate box on the left side of the screen will show your participation rate as both a percentage and raw numbers. If you'll be monitoring participation rates throughout the day, be sure to refresh the browser as the page will not update automatically when left open.
  2. We will not be processing changes while the survey is open, which includes adding employees to the survey or correcting demographics on the employee roster. The only change we are able to make is removing an employee from the survey while the survey is open.
  3. If, at any point, an employee can’t find their survey link in their email, or if it was sent to an incorrect email address, they can access the survey by clicking this kiosk link and entering the email address from the employee roster as the code. Our team cannot update or replace email addresses for any employees invited to participate in the survey.
  4. Our FAQ guide answers most questions you or your staff may have about the survey. Please use it as your primary resource for navigating the survey process. You can also find a complete list of resources, templates, and information needed throughout the survey journey on our Survey Resources page.
March 26: Who gets access to your results?

After the survey closes, your organization will receive your results on May 1.

Your CEO (CEO/ED/Head of School/Head Rabbi/Etc.) is the only person at your organization who will automatically receive access to your survey results. If anyone else was listed on the registration form in the results access section, we will ask your CEO to confirm that information via email by April 19. This is to ensure the appropriate leaders at your organization are the only ones who can access the data.

Please have your CEO look out for an email from our team on April 15. Survey Liaisons who do not serve as their organization’s CEO will also be copied in our email to help ensure we receive the proper confirmation from your CEO.

Once the results are shared, any additions or removals from your report viewer list will also need to be confirmed by the CEO to maintain data security. To do so, your CEO can email us directly, or as your organization's survey liaison, they can be copied on your change request.

March 19: Tips to increase survey participation

Have you informed your staff about the survey? A higher participation rate means richer data for your organization. Here are some ideas for how you can encourage staff to participate:

  • Edit and share our email template with your staff to let them know about the survey.
  • Have your senior leaders talk about the importance of participation to show they're really bought into the process.
  • Encourage team managers or department heads to hold time for their teams to complete the survey. This can be especially helpful if your organization is larger.
  • Make plans to share the survey results so you can tell staff now that they'll see some of the results.

Our resource on participation strategies outlines this information in more detail.

March 12: How is the survey administered?

Did you know?

  • The survey is offered in English with an option for your employees to switch the questions to Spanish or Hebrew directly on the survey page.
  • The survey is mobile-friendly! Your staff can take the survey on any device with access to their work email, including their iPad/tablet, phone, laptop, or computer.
  • The survey is confidential. All responses and comments are 100% confidential, and at no point will anyone from your organization have access to individual responses or know who completed the survey.

You can find an outline of your survey journey and a list of all the resources needed to support your organization on our Survey Resources page. If you have any questions, please email us at surveys@leadingedge.org.
