Rob Tafeen

Rob Tafeen is Vice President, Operations and Analytics at Leading Edge, where he leads the organization's data, systems, and technology work and turns it into insight the field can act on.

He spent over 22 years at Commvault, a global data protection and cyber resilience company, where he started as an intern and rose to Senior Director of BI & Analytics. Over that time, the company grew from 300 employees to 3,000, and he worked his way through accounting, FP&A, and business intelligence, picking up a fairly complete picture of how a business actually runs along the way.

While leading the company's enterprise analytics strategy, Rob consolidated a scattered set of data silos into a single lakehouse with a common Power BI front end, so that everyone was finally working from the same numbers. Meetings stopped being arguments about whose report was right and went back to being about the actual work. He also grew the company's dashboard audience from 30 users to more than 1,000, which he considers the accomplishment most worth bragging about. Most recently he consulted on data strategy and governance.

Rob is a CPA with an MBA, which means he can talk to the finance people and the engineers and usually keep both sides happy. He earned both his MBA and his B.S. in Accounting from Monmouth University, holds a Wharton Business Analytics certification, and has been named a three-time OnCon Icon Top 100 Data & Analytics Professional.

Rob lives in southern New Jersey with his wife Jillian and their four kids, Zachary, Matthew, Eli, and Samantha. He is an active member of the Jewish community, a lifelong Star Trek fan, and someone who maintains that the best part of any vacation is the spreadsheet you build for it.
