Leading Edge Values

How we do what we do.

In everything we do, both within our team and in interacting with the broader community, Leading Edge strives to embody these six values:

1. Excellence / Haritzut

We strive for excellence in service of our mission. We ground our work in both data and the lived experiences of the people in our sector. And, we try not to let the perfect be the enemy of the very good.

“Do what you decide to do with industriousness and enthusiasm.” — Rabbi Israel Salanter

2. Curiosity / Sakranut

We bring a spirit of possibility to our work. We are committed to learning, innovation, and adapting to change.

“Who is wise? One who learns from everyone.” — Ben Zoma, Pirkei Avot 4:1

3. Humility / Anavah

We know that fostering a thriving Jewish nonprofit sector is greater than any single organization and there are many paths to get there. We aspire to be a “wise student” and selfless in the value we add. We know success in manifesting our mission is a collective endeavor.

“Humility is the middle path between pride and meekness.” —Maimonides, Mishneh Torah, Human Dispositions 1:4

4. Empathy / Rahamim

We honor everyone's experiences and welcome everyone to join in our broader vision wherever they are on the journey to becoming a better place to lead, work, and serve.

“You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” — Leviticus 19:18

5. Belonging / Shayyakhut

We believe equity is a mandate and inclusivity is a superpower; our work — and our community — is stronger when anchored by connection, respect, and a sense of purpose.

“Precisely through our consciousness of difference, we can join in solidarity.” — Rabbi Dr. Erin Leib Smokler

6. Integrity / Yosher

We communicate directly and default to trust, respect, and goodwill. We follow up and follow through.

“The integrity of the upright guides them.” — Proverbs 11:3
